Information Communication Technology
At Leverton Academy, we know that preparing children for the future is essential. We are currently investing heavily in technology to support the learning in our classrooms. Most recently, we have purchased 16 iPads for our children to use - that's enough for at least 1 between in all classes. We use the iPads as powerful learning tools to bring content and excitement into lessons. Our children are becoming increasingly confident at manipulating images, creating video content, researching, programming and coding.
We know that technology can be powerful for accessing content, however not all information on the internet is appropriate for all children - we have a strict filtering system in place, managed by our outsourced technology company (ACS) - to ensure that only the information we need is delivered to the children. We also educate our children in the importance of keeping safe online, cyberbullying and internet misuse.
We will be running adult information classes in the summer term to help familiarise everyone with some of the amazing ways technology can be used to inspire, engage and develop children's learning. For more information, please see Mr Mitton.
