  • Swimming

Schools must provide swimming instruction either in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. This is set out in the National Curriculum's programme of study for physical education.

This should include teaching pupils to:

    • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
    • Use a range of strokes effectively – for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
    • Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

At Leverton, our pupils are given the opportunity to swim right from Year One. Children will learn the basics of water confidence and being safe in the water – through achieving skills and stroke techniques and Water Safety Awards.

The children have the opportunity to swim once a week in the Autumn Term.

We take the children swimming at Swim Stars and Dolphins in Bawtry.  School Swimming Provision Doncaster
