Forest Schools
Forest School is a unique educational experience that focuses on the whole child and their holistic development. When the children visit the local woods, they take part in a range of activities and tasks that provide opportunities to develop their skills in teamwork, risk taking and negotiating with others. Alongside this, it supports children’s well-being by increasing confidence, self-esteem and their understanding of boundaries.
Children will be involved in working with a variety of tools and natural materials and will have opportunities to work towards riskier activities such as fire lighting. Children, who take part in forest schools are known to show improvements on their ability to empathise with others, improve mental health, ability to manage risks and to improve mood.
