Humanities
At Leverton Church of England Academy, we teach history and geography in an interconnected manner through engaging topic focuses that capture children's interest and imagination. Each topic provides substantive knowledge, ensuring students gain a solid foundation in both historical and geographical content. As they progress through each year group, students enhance their understanding through our key lenses, which help them develop critical thinking and analytical skills in both subjects. In the first half of the term, our topics are history-focused, allowing children to delve into past events, cultures, and significant figures. After the October half term, the focus shifts towards geography, where students explore geographical skills and concepts, such as mapping and fieldwork, physical landscapes, and human features. This integrated approach also allows for the inclusion of other areas of the curriculum, particularly 'The Arts', enriching the learning experience and enabling students to express their understanding creatively.
