Science

At Leverton Church of England Academy, our science curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and develop scientific skills through open-ended questions and hands-on investigations. We encourage students to think critically and explore the world around them using our key lenses: pattern seeking, research, classifying and grouping, observation over time, and fair testing. By engaging in pattern seeking, students learn to identify trends and make connections between different scientific phenomena. Through research, they develop the ability to gather and analyse information. Classifying and grouping activities help them understand the properties and relationships of different materials and organisms. Observation over time allows students to track changes and draw conclusions about processes. Fair testing teaches them the importance of controlling variables to ensure accurate and reliable results. These investigative approaches ensure that our students progressively build their scientific skills, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts and a passion for discovery.
